What you pay for the regimen will depend on many factors, including your insurance coverage and if there are financial support options available to you.

  • If you’re 65 or older, the regimen is covered by Medicare Part B and may be available with no copay
  • All Health Insurance Marketplace plans, and most private insurance plans, cover pneumococcal vaccination without charging a copayment or coinsurance when provided by an in-network provider. Check with your insurance provider for coverage details

What are the 2 Vaccines?

 

VAXNEUVANCE™ (Pneumococcal 15-valent Conjugate Vaccine) is a vaccine to help protect against invasive disease caused by 15 types of pneumococcus (pronounced “noo-mo-ca-cus”), a kind of bacteria, in individuals 6 weeks of age and older. Invasive disease is a serious form of pneumococcal disease.

PNEUMOVAX®23 (Pneumococcal Vaccine Polyvalent) is a vaccine that helps protect against infection by 23 types of pneumococcus in people 50 years of age and older, and those 2 years of age and older if they have certain medical conditions that put them at increased risk for infection.

Important Safety Information

VAXNEUVANCE or PNEUMOVAX 23 might not protect everyone who gets the vaccines. They will not protect against diseases that are caused by bacteria types that are not in the vaccines.$lineDo not get VAXNEUVANCE or PNEUMOVAX 23 if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in that vaccine, or if you have had an allergic reaction to that vaccine in the past. Also do not get VAXNEUVANCE if you are allergic to diphtheria toxoid.$lineBefore getting VAXNEUVANCE or PNEUMOVAX 23, tell your health care provider if you have had an allergic reaction to any vaccine. Also tell your health care provider if you have a weak immune system, or if you take medicines or treatments that might weaken your immune system. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breast-feeding. Before getting PNEUMOVAX 23, tell your health care provider if you have heart or lung problems, or have a fever.$linePNEUMOVAX 23 may not prevent pneumococcal meningitis in patients with leakage of spinal fluid caused by a cracked or injured skull or a medical operation.

After getting VAXNEUVANCE or PNEUMOVAX 23, tell your health care provider right away if you have symptoms of an allergic reaction. These may include difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat, hives, or rash. Also tell your health care provider if you have any side effects that bother you or if any other unusual symptoms develop.
